1485, Just bought some Greddy Headers
Posted by LunerEclipse, May-03-01 10:20 AM
I just bought a whole exhaust for my car from Greddy. I replaced the stock headers with Greddy headers and the stock exhaust with the Greddy Evolution. Well the headers are heating up under the hood and I wanted to know if I'm losing horsepower with it being so hot around my air intake. My car has a lot more pull with the mods I made but I wanted to know if I'm losing anything.

The cooler the air, the more denser it is, and the more power you get

You probably are not being as efficient as you could be because the intake is drawing in warm air. Since you already have an intake I'd make some cold runner from some aluminum ducting and have it come up to the filter from the bottom of the car. Then make some sheilding for your headers or your intake. Some sort of scoop so that the intake will draw in the air that is away from the headers.

Could you use the heat shield thats on the car now with aftermarket headers?

On the Brospeed headers you can put the stock heat shield over it. It has three holes at the top to mount it to, just like the stock manifold. I left it off though, since I have a cold air and I like the looks of the header :) !

How do I make an aluminum ducting for my intake. And wouldn't it be better if I just bought the Iceman Intake that goes all the way down to the bottom? These headers look tight and I really don't want to put a heat shield over them. The stock shield does not fit at all with these headers. Get back to me. And also...How do I get a pic of my car up here? I want to show off too.

i have the same headers as you have. I did a custom job to my intake and mounted it under the wheel well so its not in the engine bay at all.. and dont wrap your headers
