The other day me and some other friends were on our way home after Mardi Gras on the interstate and I got my '95 over 140 mph and didnt experience any kind of engine shutoff or other problems also felt like I could keep going faster?? Is this normal? Also Rich got his 97 GS over 140 with no probs...(although rich needs to watch without ZR rated tires.... :))

There is no speed limiter on the 2GNT. I myself have gotten up to 140 before.

isnt there a fuel cut off at a certain rpm..so if u drop the rpms some but still be on the gas.. not mashing it..

i never go on the highway much..
usually 120ish to the track... never take it over that though

Next time your in New Orleans watch yourself. You were probably on i-10. It's usally swamped with cops. I was in New Orleans too, for Mardi Gras (I'm from Baton Rouge). One time my car got to 130 (i was proud of it) then a cop nailed me on the Ponchatrain Bridge (speed limit 60)..... yes, that's 70 miles over the limit. And to top that I thought i could get away by turning off my lights.... bad idea..car was towed etc...etc..... In the end my parents had the hook ups to get my ass out of trouble. So be careful when your pushing your car to that level.

What RPM were you doing?

I got up to 135 and felt it could go way more.

To be totally honest, I didnt pay attention to the RPMs...kinda racing a new Sentra SER....that biotch is fast!!

One time I wasnt watchin my rpms and I think I was in 2nd gear and my car jerked back and forth twice real fast and i looked at rpms I was over 7,000. When the car was jerkin back is that the fuel shut off?

yeah when the car jerks thats the fuel ctoff switch cause i have accidently done it to take care of a few hondas

I got mine up to 140 about a week ago and I know she had more! It was hella funny too, the windshield wipers went flying straight up and down. :)

I-10 - I hate I-10. We were pulled over there last time I was leaving houston. I hate Louisiana. They love giving me tickets and it smells. :-/

So far my speedo read a bit over 150 but I know it is off so I suspect more around ~145 or so. I wonder what it is now with my new gearing.

I had Avenger ES-T swap the internals of my transmission over to the 3.55 gears from a sohc neon (we have a 3.94 final drive). This will give me a better cruising gear in 5th and more traction in the lower gears. It is a bit backwards from what most drag racers do and on paper it should slow me down, but it gives more traction on the street and thus more usable power.

Taller gears+quaife=way less wheel spin and more movement plus a higher top end. I can not take credit for the idea though. Bill swapped the gears on his RS as well and a lot of the high power turbo neon guys are swapping to the 3.55 vs the stock 3.94.

It only makes sense on a high powered turbo fwd car with lots of low torque though. If you are NA it would be detrimental to your performance.

Did you also change the 5th gear to the .72 or is that still stock. RS_Guy was talking about switching both final drive and 5th gear and was talking about top speeds around 200 mph. :o

Well there was this one time... I had my fathers 3000GT VR-4 "Hella moded" going more then 160. At that speed you really don't look at the gauges so I dunno if I was going faster or not, But hey come there was a HOTT chick in a Viper GT-S trying to race me :-)

I have everything from the sohc so yes I have the longer 5th gear as well. Soon I will get to spend some time winding it out and know what it feels like. Until then I have no impressions to go off of except for what Armond tells me. :(
