I checked out what all the letters stand for on the ngk website www.ngksparkplugs.com
under Tech Info.

Letters explained:
Go here, and click the last question on the page for the letter designation of the NGK plugs:

Q: What do the numbers and letters in a
part number represent?

But basicially,
Y - is for the V-Grooved center electrode
A - is for special design, whatever that means.
