Hey guys...well guess what...My father and I are going to tackle this pulley thing this weekend. I have had this pulley sitting in the box for almost a year now. I can't wait to have it installed. My two questions are....1. What are the three screw holes for on the pulley??? I was looking in the Chilton manual and it only shows the one bolt in the middle. 2.Why do the numbers on the belts that came with the pulley not match up to the numbers on the instruction sheet??? I sure hope they sent me the right thing a year ago cause I think it would be to late to exchange it if they did. Thank you to anyone that helps me with my questions. I am a little scared about messing up something with the pulley install so if anyone has any tips that would be great too. Thanks a lot all....have a nice day :-)

It is for using a hamonic balancer puller. To take the old off you need just a regular puller, Sears has them and if you break it, replaced free :) (not likely)
Anyway, if you ever wanted to take the A/FX pulley off you need a different puller, the harmonic balancer one.

Ours didn't either but worked just fine, most people recomend getting better quality belts anyway.

If you read the other section on this you problably already know you have to drop the engine down to get the old one out. Also baking the A/FX pulley does help just bake it a tad longer than sugested, it is still a tight fit :)

Not likely to break a pulley puller, Michelle? HA, I broke two! Bent the hell out of the bolts on 'em. Make sure you get a 3 ton or greater 3 arm puller. I had a 5 ton, also make sure the arms go down to a small diameter, like 3 inches. The numbers don't match because you probably go the instructions for the Neon Pulley. Heating the pulley really didn't work for me but it was so cold out that the pulley cooled off too quickly. I got a bolt that was an inch longer than the stock crank bolt and pulled it on like that.

Definately get new belts hehe, the belts they gave you are garbage. I got some Goodyear belts and they're much better. You might get crazy squeaking also. The alternator belt that came with mine was too big, the alternator bracket was tightened all the way and there was still a lot of slack, almost enough to just slip the belt right off the pulley.

so why doesn't AFX just supply us with better belts since so many members complain of the same thing....any thought or comments AFX???

Do you by any chance have the part #'s for the Goodyear belts?? I guess it would be a little dumb to put the junky ones from AFX on to just have to change them later anyway. Thanks

I personally have had no problems with the belts that cam ewith it. Maybe I haven't put enough miles on it yet, but mine are just fine.

Using the heat in to over method...is the harmonic balancer tool still needed??? My father brought some gloves home from work that can handle 2,000 degrees so he figured on going the heat it up route. Thanks guys

Well I was trying to find a shop to install it for me. I never found anyone that wanted to do it. Everywhere I went it was "its going to damamge your engine" and "your battery will die" or the all mighty "no harmonic balancer"...It basically took me this long to talk my father into it...hehehe...My father and I have done my shocks and springs, AEM bypass valve, and brakes. I did the intake myself. So now it's pulley time. I hope everything works when we try this and I don't break anything.
