hi can i take off the heat sheild on my 99 rs or will it get to hot ?

Don't know if it will get too hot, but have you seen the exhaust manifold without the heat shield? It is UGLY! Don't take it off, it's a nasty reddish brown ugly thing that you should just cover up with the heat shield..

How can you have a heat shield with aftermarket headers? All the ones I know of don't use a heat shield...

I think he was saying that he had an aftermarket heat shield.....

If he had an aftermarket heat shield, then I don't know why he would take it off. I'm confused because aftermarket headers do not use heat shields, so he must have a stock exhaust manifold (header), which is really ugly, so you should just leave it covered up.

Can you paint the Heat Shield? I was thinking about painting it silver. Cuz the one that is on there looks like the paint coating is starting to crack. Would you have to take the heat shield completly off? If so how do you do that? Is it hard?

LOL... I guess I misunderstood... yeah why in the heck would you put the heatshield on if you have aftermarket headers??? Arent they coated with something so they dont radiate so much heat???
