I spoke with the programmer. He is willing to try. I need a Talon Computer core 1996 to get started send me one. The person that sends it, will get to do the beta testing "IF!!!!!" we can crack the code.
Thanks

Are the PCM the same between 95-96 and 97-99s? They look different so I'm just wondering. I may have a 99 PCM by next week if you're interested. From an eclipse though.

Check with a salvage yard, Avenger should have the same PCM's

14311, RE: Hostage begs for release. Posted by Thunderous_Talon, Feb-08-02 09:40 AM
See Gary, look at it this way. you remove the rev limiter, we blow our engines and then we buy rebuild kits from you and you are now making even more money. :D

14313, RE: Hostage begs for release. Posted by Vectorracing_B, Feb-08-02 10:29 AM
Would we be able to adjust shift point on auto trans with a "tunable" ecu?
|
14314, RE: Hostage begs for release. Posted by Vectorracing_B, Feb-08-02 10:30 AM
OBDII isn't that bad!
|
14315, RE: Hostage begs for release. Posted by Avenger, Feb-08-02 11:11 AM
Unfortunately the shift points aren't set in the PCM ... they are set in the TCM (the tranny computer). You'd have to get a replacement for that. I believe level ten has one. It's not even close to cheap though. But I don't think you'd want to change the shift points in an AT. They already shift at redline anyway.

14316, RE: Hostage begs for release. Posted by HadesOmega, Feb-08-02 11:37 AM
so the if the new ecu comes out it won't be for 95s huh? My harness is a lot smaller than a 96 think. Sigh.... If this thing can adjust my fuel curve like a SuperAFC and still cost about as much as a super AFC I'd gladly get it. :) How much do ecus cost at the yard? I might be able to get one at a full service pick n pull a couple cities down.

14317, RE: Hostage begs for release. Posted by eclipse804, Feb-08-02 12:13 PM
Hmm would this ECU's be programmable on the fly? Like can you hook it up to a laptop and program it like you would a Super AFC. Or would the code be set once we bought it?

14318, I have one, but need to get it back Posted by juan, Feb-08-02 12:39 PM
Gary, I have a 96 MT Ecu, but its not in my posession right now. I'll work on getting it back soonest.
The ECU case has already been opened, BTW. Might make it easier for you.

if you can play around with my 98 ecu, then i'm game, i could use the downtime to redo a lot of stuff i have been wanting to get done...

14322, RE: I have one, but need to get it back Posted by Stan2gnt, Feb-08-02 04:36 PM
Whats with the 95 ECU that keeps you from doing any. No 95 neon AFX ECU's (except a rumored one in existance) and now a 96 ECU is desired. You'd think a 95 with its less complex functions and controls would be easiest starting from scratch.
I can already answer the programmabilty quesion: No. The day we jump pass neon parts progression at Howell hell will freeze over (take no offense, they are your bread and butter so thats the way it should be).

14323, I got the hookup!!!! Posted by Avenger EST, Feb-09-02 07:13 AM
Gary, I think the 96 and 97 computers both have the same pin loactions (I have both manuals), and I know for a fact that they are the same casing (I used to have a 96). I am pretty sure I could get you a 97 ECU as long as I can get it back when you guys are done testing (with MuRiX's permission of course :-p). If It works, I will send my computer also to get the rev limiter removed. As soon as I hear from MuRiX, I shoudl be able to have an ecu your way shortly.

14324, RE: I got the hookup!!!! Posted by Vectorracing_B, Feb-09-02 07:20 AM
but are ecu's the same between auto and stick?
|
14325, RE: I got the hookup!!!! Posted by Avenger EST, Feb-09-02 11:03 AM
my buddy steve did an auto to stick conversion in hsi old RS, and all he had to do ecu wise was plug in a manual ecu to get rid of the 6k rev limiter or whatever it is on the auto (he said it was lower than the stick rev limiter). I never saw his car have a problem.

Glad you have a good sense of humor about all this Gary.
Wouldn't 96 and up be the same? All OBD-II I "thought" had the same programming. There seems to be a number of '97's available... why not start there (insert devilish grin here)

I think the 96 and 97 neon ecus hav ediffernet casings (I am 80 percent sure that ALL 2gnt cars use the 97+ caseing.....I bought a hanes manual for a neon, but it only had wiring diagrams for the older neon ecu. the one tha thas one giand plug instead of 2 plugs like ours and the later model first gen neons.)

14331, deal is done Posted by Avenger EST, Feb-11-02 06:07 AM
turns out they need a chrysler ecu (talon/avenger/sebring) just for preferrence, so I am sending the ecu out of my 97 venger and will drive around with MuRiX's ecu till I get mine back. I should be able to ship the ecu off on fri. or saturday.
