1420, Nitrous seems like the answer... Posted by Dame_Flamez, May-01-01 02:26 PM
Well guys, after reading your responses as well as answers from people from other groups, I guess it's obvious that getting the power I want from all motor isn't going to happen. I'm not going to drop $3000 on a turbo and upgrading to a GS-T isn't possible... SO! It looks like I might give nitrous a try. A couple quick questions...
*I know NOS is the big name, but what about other companies like Zex, etc.? Are they as reliable? Who has the best warranty and package?
*What's the biggest shot I can put into an RS engine with basic mods like exhaust, intake, headers? Is 75 too much?
*What other mods do I have to make to accomodate a nitrous system?
*How much will this cost?
I read the NOS FAQ but I have a feeling that it's not telling me everything I need to know. I'm trying to here the scoop from people who know nitrous and can give me an unbiased opinion.
Any other suggestions you guys wanna add, please feel free.
Thanks a million Damien

<<*I know NOS is the big name, but what about other companies like Zex, etc.? Are they as reliable? Who has the best warranty and package?>>
-NOS, Nitrous Express, venom (expensive) are pretty much the most popular. Zex does not work on 96+ because the TPS does not give off enough voltage to activate the system. I dont think it works with 95 eclipses either- but you should double check that.
<<*What's the biggest shot I can put into an RS engine with basic mods like exhaust, intake, headers? Is 75 too much?>>
-The most that is recommended for our engine without any main upgrades is 75
<<*What other mods do I have to make to accomodate a nitrous system?>>
-It is recommended to get a larger fuel pump, but you dont have to. Its better to be safe then sorry.
<<*How much will this cost?>>
-Depends on what other "options" you want. A typical NOS kit will run you about 500-550. A purge kit will run you about 100. Heater about 130-170. Those are the popular add-ons.
<<Any other suggestions you guys wanna add, please feel free.>> If your car is a 96 and up, you must use a wet kit. Also read alot of the posts in the Nitrous section- they are very helpful.
