13981, 8.5mm magnacore ohm resistance?
Posted by vegasdsmr, Feb-06-02 06:32 AM
sup fellaz, i just checked the resistance on my magancores, but have no information as to what they should be.

i looked at the sheets that came with them, and they didnt include any info.

this is what i got.
the two longer cables measured at 1.8
the two shorter cables measured at 1.3

are these cables still functional for use???

thanks

I think so... I don't know the specs but since they are ohming out the same for the pairs, it would seem right. I can check mine later... maybe the weekend if I'm home...

Not sure if this any help, but the Chilton's manual that I have (Sorry, only covers 1990-98) shows 2.0L non-turbo engines, 95-98, stock cables, 1-4 with a resistance of 8K ohms.

The ranges of all other Eclipses and engines is from 8 to 22K ohms.
I'm no electrician, but it looks like your mags are doing their job.

Again, the data I have is for 90s to 98s. If you don't have a Chilton's you outta pick up the manual for your year and confirm.
Hope this is a little bit helpful.

i got chiltons, i just dont figure i can compare the stockers w/magnacores.

neways, it is 1.8 and 1.3, not 18 and 13, so from 8-20 or 22 is no good for me.

thanks tho

I hear ya on the no compare. Just figured if ya measured 1.3 and 1.8 K ohms, thats better than 8K ohms resistance.
Is the 1.8 and 1.3 ohms or Kohms?

Resistance specs on the magnecor site for the KV85 V5 and the R100 V3 says 2.2Kohms ft resistance on the conductor.
check out the site

for the next guy-----

That sounds about right - the cable should measure about 2000 ohms per foot.
