I'm not sure if this it such a good idea, but I thought I'd share it so all of you can discuss it because it worked great for our NT ;)

I've been having a terrible time with squeeling and snapping belts, especially the power steering belt. One time after the belt got chewed up again (for the 3rd time that week) Cody went to get a new one, but accidently got a wrong one. The belts have those ridges or ripples or whatever you wanna call them, but the one we have now has one less. So, the belt is a little narrower then the pulley and we put it all the way over to the side that doesn't get chewed up. Since then (it's been a couple months) the belt hasn't snapped or squeeled. It doesn't even squeel in rain or at the car wash anymore. So, if anyone still has problems with squeeling, give it a try :)

Find the belt # for me please ;)

I went through 3 belts in one weak and figured some pulley was bent or something so I bypassed my ac and that sucks.

I am in the same position. Question for you guys: when looking at your PS/AC belt where the tension pulley makes contact on it, does the pulley appeer to be about an 1/8" over to the left hand side leaving the belt with an 1/8" of no contact on the right hand side of the belt? Reason being is because this is what happened to mine. The bolt that goes threw the tensioner pulley bracket to make the tension adjustment got bent by this nimrod mechanic. This causes the belt to be offset with everything else it travels on causing excessive were to the belt. But once I figured that out it was too late because my sh!t was so bent that when I tried to take it off the darn thing broke on me. So now with none of the wrecking yards around here having nothing with our engine in it, I either have to wate for them to get one in, or buy the entire tensioner pulley assembly from Satan for 120 bucks. And driving around with no power steering sucks but when you have no AC, thats a problem.

I didn't notice them not being lined up right, but it could be and maybe that's my problem too. But the narrower belt did wonders for me ;)

I don't have a part number. Not that I know off, but I will look in my garage and see if i can find that paper thing. If not, just go to your parts store and look for one the same length, but one less ripple thing.

Fo you guuys with shreading belts, get uunder there and make sure the pulley is on all the way. If it's not aligned right you tear up oncee side till it snaps.

Thats what happened to mine. It was off alaignment because of the adjusment bolt was bent then later snapped, DOH!!!

a solution to stop the squeakin is to not have ac and ps.

i used a 4ribber when i didnt have a 5 ribber for my p/s, actually, it was an alt belt for a 4g. thank god it worked.

yah, the only problems i would see in the future is that the bearings get worn due to uneven stress on the pulley.

just tighten the crankshaft dampener bolt to 105ft lbs, and u shud be fine.

the part #s for belts are on my afx udp install page, just ask for a 4ribbed 50inch belt, not a 5 ribbed one.
