Hey guys, hope all is well.
I think I may have made a huge mistake in purchasing cams. My goal is to eventually go turbo and after talking to a few people on the forum ( and should have done more research) I jumped at an opportunity to purchase some Crower Stage 2 3/4 Race cams (64462)-not the turbo grind.

Will this cause me to lose power ( or even not gain any)? They have not been installed yet so i can possibly pay a re-stocking fee or whatever to get the right ones after returning these. Thanks in advance.

Those cams are just fine.

Used? Usually about $250. But the most? I would guess you could find somebody that would pay $350

Over 500. Over 500 on a stock valve train at that.

So the stock head flows enough air up top as well? If I recal wasn't there a thread on here or neons forums of our head being flow tested with different cams valves then with port job. I can't find it now.
I'm bout to build a head with ss valves, springs and titanium retainers. With that do you NEED to run an after market cam? I seen some sites post uyou need cams with the valves and valve springs and all that

You do not NEED to run an aftermarket cam with all that headwork. Contrary to popular belief the stock head flows extremely well.

Yeah I always heard with the 420a you need to upgrade the cams if you upgrade the valvetrain I didnt think so but good to know for sure.
So what allows you to rev above 7k like to 8k or 9k? I know lighter valves and springs help but can stock cams support high rpms as well? I currently have a big portnpolish with stock cams and stock valves with 4g63t valve springs and pt cruiser lifters and rockers. Is there a way to figure out whats the highest rpm they can support.

There is no quantifying what exact rpm you can hit with said parts.

If you want to rev higher, upgrade your parts. Unless you have a big turbo and you have done the math for supplying the air volume (not PSI) needed to support the engine at that speed, revving that high is only beating your valve train up.

yeah I figured lol. Turbo going to flow about 65lbs/min guess ill just see how much these stock cams can take.

65lb/min is going to be more like what the bottom end can take! The cams will be fine. Good luck.

Yeah 65lbs is max the motor will see. Mechanic built the block for around 700hp so ill be seeing just how much this 420a will take.
