I just replaced the entire Egr valve on my 1999 eclipse 420a motor. (no Mods) and the new part is ticking very loudly. the car seems to be running better but except for the loud ticking.

My question is, " Do think I have a faulty 3rd party valve assembly? or is there another emission problem I am having to cause the valve to tick?"
it sounds like an old ford engine with sticking valves or lifters.

Are you sure you don't have a leak? A leak at the head connection would make a ticking sound. I guess its possible that the a defective egr would make a ticking sound........

sorry, I havent been on here lately and I haven't had time to work on my car until now. i'm still having this issue. I don't have a leak and it still ticks. i've even increased the hose diameter to 1/4".

The problem hasnt gone away I'm trying to avoid EGR block off. Maybe I will post a video to show how it sounds.
