About 10 years ago, I spun a rod bearing and put a hole through the block. I found a replacement engine on craigslist near me that had just been rebuilt with the intention of going turbo. Some kid owned it and totaled the car before anything else was done to the car. Anyway, he was parting out the the car and his dad forced him to sell everything dirt cheap to get it out of his yard and I got a steal on the engine and a few other odds and ends. He showed me a receipt at the time to prove that at least something was done to the car, but he had no idea what was actually put in it.

Now that I've finally got the turbo kit installed, I really need to know what's in this thing so I know how far I can safely boost it. For now, I'm not planning on going beyond 7 psi until I can determine this.

I look a look at the bottom of the pistons after I dropped the oil pan and the only marking I can see is "0124". I did a compression test years ago and it was inline with what you'd see with 8.6/8.8 compression so I've just assumed that was what was put in. Any know from that marking what pistons these could be?

And why 7 psi? You should limit yourself to a HP level rather than just a pressure level. PSI does not mean much.

I don't think I can really get much of a picture, but I suppose I could try. I doubt it will help much though.

It's the Turbonetics T3/T4 turbo included in the Star stage II kit... and why 7 psi? Well because that's what the wastegate is set too and it's easy enough to leave it there since I don't have a boost controller connected yet.

Can anyone else shed any light on this? I already put the oil pan back on and forgot to try to get pics. Anyone have any pictures of forged pistons with the markings visible? I tried searching for some and didn't find much.
