137011, Bigger cams in a 420a Posted by spikekautz, Jun-23-12 09:47 PM
I was thinking about putting stage 1 crowder cams into my 420a and my main question was wether or not I should rebuild the head or leave it how it is.

Depending on if you've ever had the head done, if not, I'd say to go ahead and have the head serviced. a.) Everything will be fresh b.) You can work with the shop re: your cam and any porting, etc., that is appropriate for the application.
Kinda like a timing belt. Might as well do the water pump too. JMHO

I would also do your research before you upgrade on types/sizes of cams...
personally I dont think a stage 1 upgrade is really worth the money

I was figuring just to redo the entire head I was just checking if it was absolutely necessary or not, and honestly if I'm redoing the head it's probably more worth it to pick up stage 2 or 3 cams instead of stage one.
