Warrantied for a year... who the hell can beat that??? The only thing is... I gotta find out if I can run the hyper flat tops from dsm graveyard, stock rods/crank and get their bee-hive valve springs setup... I've seen a few people run 272's with stock valve train stuff....scares me >.<

Yes... He's agreed to grind a set of .272s.... Only because there's not enough demand for the stage 1 420a cams... I would think that stage 1 would be a waist of time... I was trying to talk him into doing a set of 280s.. But I don't think that there would be enough demand... He usually only works on 4g motors...

You better do your research on cams. Check out the numbers on say a set of Crower 2's and a set of Crower 3's or a set of Crane 14's.

You're throwing around numbers from 4G63 that don't match up to 420a. Do you know what the 272 or 280 represents?

Thats what I was thinking.....I remember looking at the numbers before. Crower 3 cams are 254/250 duration.

Crane 18's are 258/258 for what its worth - IMO 272's are a waste. Especially since there has never been a set made for the 420A - Neon guys included.

No one knows what the hell theyd do - but I can almost guarantee that the current grinds are better options.

Crower not Brian Crower, two different people =) I didn't see what you had done to your car, but Crower 3's may be to aggressive for you, unless decently modded, may want to stay with Crower 2's.

I'm rebuilding a stock 420a... found a set of sealed power flat top hypers that I want to use. All motor no boost... probably keep the stock rods with this setup. I'll port and polish the heads (along with having a new valve job done). Installing a megasquirt II this weekend :D

Why do you continue to refer to cam duration in a decimal? ".272" means nothing. A cam value is duration in degrees. Not hundredths or thousandths.

Also, there is only one head on a 420a. Not "heads".

Thank you... I didn't know that the 420a only had one head... I was thinking porting/polishing the ports.... the plural carried over to the head. It makes sense in my mind >.< Why are you so critical?

True. Xtreme Performance sells 292's with a .458" lift for the 420a
though? Why would those work? I've heard of a few different 292 cams for the 4g63.

Haha, because (I figured out) Dougie is giving the numbers at the head of the valve. All the others numbers you see are at some point of the cam. I believe his basically match up to Crower 3's (though a little different I imagine)

I asked this question in another thread, but I never got a reply back yet... Can anyone with the Crower stage 3 cams tell me when the power starts to taper off in the rpm band?.. (Given that the head is also ported and polished)

My peak I believe was 7600 (or a little higher) and it held pretty well post peak.

Nice Bullet. Can you run the stage 3 n/a cams with a turbo?... I am thinking about a turbo that makes peak power in the top of the rpm range.
