136429, Need help deciding on Innovate wideband options Posted by Sorry_i_Win, Apr-10-12 05:08 PM
I'm trying to decide if I should buy an Innovate LM-2 kit (external meter) or just get one of their gauge kits. I'm leaning towards a gauge kit thought because I kinda like having a digital readout of the AFR. I was looking at the XD-16 + LC-1 kits, but now that they have the new MTX-L gauges with the LC-1 controller built right into the gauge, and they are even cheaper, I was leaning towards one of those.
I want to be able to do data logging in the future though and I'm just not sure how capable the gauge kit or MTX-L's are in this area. I already have an odbii meter, so that's not really a big deal... but it's a nice bonus feature of the LM-2 kits.
I guess I really want to know if anyone has used any of these wideband devices to do data logging and how well they worked.
EDIT: I'm also planning on probably getting a MS ECU at some point too so let me know if that changes things. I know they can do data logging too, but not sure how well these play together. I'm pretty new to the logging/tuning stuff too so take it easy on me if I say something stupid.

Thanks. I'm really leaning towards getting the MTX-L ($170 shipped on ebay) but I just thought there had to be a reason that the XD-16 + LC-1 kits are over double the price ($399).
Why is this? What is the advantage of going the latter route?
EDIT: Used, I can get the XD-16 + LC-1 for about $240. Is it worth it vs. paying $170 for the MTX-L?

Okay.. well since I see no reason that the LC-1 + XD-16 kit is any better than the MTX-L, I guess I'm getting the MTX-L and hoping for the best.

I picked up the MTX-L a couple months ago. I am going to be installing in the next few weeks.
The XD-16 is discontinued, replaced with the MTX-L. I don't see why anyone would have any issues with it. Innovate is top notch quality, IMO.
