135861, Knocking Diesel sound Posted by maca38, Jan-21-12 08:15 AM
Hello everyone,
I have a 99 gs and recently rebuilt the engine. I live in Spain as I´m in the service, but not in a base, therefore don´t have all the amenities I would like.
Now after rebuilding the engine, my car sounds like a freaking Diesel until it warms up. I don´t know if its valve know, piston slap, or what. Here is a link to a video I took so you could hear.
I would really appreciate help on this.

Thanks in advance

On the rebuild, what were the machining specs for piston to cylinder wall clearances?
Perform a compression and leak down test and give us the results.

How do you fix piston slap if it is that?
Would piston slap go away after the car warms up?

Unfortunately not yet. I have checked with the shop here, but things here are quite different and many of the tools are not available for me to do it.
I would have to have the tools sent from the US.
i will let you know asap.
