13579, stupid front end question Posted by RSin oRACLe, Feb-02-02 08:31 AM
ok you know the 2 corner vents on the front end of our cars. is having those open ( covered by grill ) bad. could it cause unwanted corrosion ? or is it good to have open... due to the fact that the transmission and air intake would get direct air ?

Mine are open, I see no bad side eff3ects arising.
2 plusses 1. Looks better 2. My Cold Air Intake filter is right there so I force air into the filter at speeds = better performance "The fastest draw is when the sword never leaves the scabbard, The strongest way to block, is never to provoke a blow, And the cleanest cut is the one withheld."

also, more air is gettin thrown past your brakes, at least the extra turbulence caused by openin the holes up.
i got the two outer hookd up w/ductin that shoot to this ghettoazz airbox. and the two that cover the fogs, i took them off also.
i need to file down the edges inside the fog light holes to make it look betta, but thats what new front ends are 4 right?

You would only get air to your brakes if you ran ducts to them or removed the splash guards.

I have had mine open for months with my bodykit and I have had no problems. I didn't really feel in performance gains though.

You get a ton of water and air in the engine anyway. (you're engine sits about a foot above the ground). Removing some panels won't do anything bad.

You get a lot more air to the filter on a CAI but you also get a lot of dirt. I took mine off a while ago and the filter was BLACK as could be.

ok so im glad i have the short ram .. lol .. mike this is kinda funny u mentioned the splash guards .. when i removed the nose to put the grills on .. i forgot to latch the splash guard on properly ....the wind blew it back onto my tires and basically it burned a hole through the guard .. i guess that would help the air flow ..
EVERYONE TRY THIS !! LOL (ps where can i get new splash guards .. ????? and for how much.. ?)

lol, i have a custom vent splash guard from when i installed the udp. i took her out for a test drive before retightenin the belts, and it flew back and hit the tire. when i was takin the tire back off, there was mad burnt plastic peices all up in the rim and brake assembly.
you arent alone
