135242, Bolt By Alternador sparking Posted by GsNewbie, Oct-02-11 01:59 PM
Ok I am getting a spark from the bolt that goes into the alternador, I can hear the sparking in my car and went to check it and sure enough sparking like crazy. Put my hand down their and could literally turn bolt with my hand. Tried tightening it and nothing. So is my alternador bad or wiring or some messed up?

There are several bolts that go into the alternator. Be more specific. If there are no loose external connections, you likely need to replace the alternator.

Its the bolt thats on the opposite side of the belt right under the tb, It has 2 wires connecting to it and when you turn the bolt the wires turn to idk how to be more specific then that.

Take a picture then. The alternator is on the opposite side of the motor than the throttle body, so I am not sure what you are talking about.

I would check to make sure they are tightened all the way. Sounds like one of them is loose and is causing the arcing.

Sounds like he is talking about the 2 positive wires that connect to the alternator. Dont drive the car with that connection loose, I melted an alternator because of that. I would take out the bolt and see if it or the hole is stripped out
