I bought some radiator flush and some antifreeze. It sounds simple to do but I was wondering if any of you guys have done it before and if there is anything I should know. Thanks for any help.

let me ask you something.. how many miles does your car have on it and did you have your system open or something. is that why you are flushing your raditor.

My 98' GS has 58,000 miles on it. The radiator was last flushed almost two years ago. I am just doing some maintainance on my car (trying to learn, and to save money), such as putting in new spark plugs, changing oil, etc. That's all.

I've never flushed my radiator before, and I was just wondering if there were any tips or anything you think I should know before I go ahead with it.

Is it necessary to flush our radiators in socal? I know it gets hot, but never really cold here...

it is recomended on the manual to flush pur radiators every 30k miles

All you have to do is loosen the drain plug underneath and let it flush out into a container (or side street with no one looking, haha) and plug the plug back in. Now, fill er up with water all the way, then loosen the plug again and let that flush out. Go buy some of that radiator flush stuff and put that in all the way. Go drive for about 5-10 minutes and let the engine at least be warmed up with the flush chemical in your radiator. Drive back home/garage and drain the flush out. Plug the plug back up, fill all the way with water. Now let that drain. Finally, put your drain plug back in and fill the radiator halfway with radiator fluid and then half water. you're good to go. Hope this helps....

Don't drain your anit-freeze into the street's use a damn container. My $#$@$ next door neighbor drained his out on the street and it killed my cat that I had at the time. Yes animals will drink anti-freeze and yes it will kill them. Needless to say that SOB needed a new set of tires to go with his new radiator fluid.

Make sure you read the bottle to get the anti-freeze to water mixture right. It varies depending on the type of weather you have in your area.

dun let cats drink it on the driveway if any... they'll die! :)

make sure you got a big enough bucket, you're going to want to be putting water in there until it comes through the thing clear, and its gonna be hot so you won't be able to close the "cock" (that's what Chilton calls it, really :) ) and it will get all over the place
