135146, 2.4 crank magnet
Posted by Dstach, Sep-21-11 11:09 PM
I know about the rewiring on injectors and the spark because or the crank magnet being on cyl 2 on the 2.4 but my 2.4 looks as if its on cyl 1. Did some years have it on cyl 1 or am I just confused about it?

All EDZ cranks have the machined counter weight on cylinder 1.

There is no crank magnet. The trigger wheel on the crank is 180* rotation off from the 2.0L.

Missed that keyword. Dino is right - the magnet is on the camshaft and must be rotated to be in sync with the crank trigger wheel - hence why you swap coil pack wires.

Again there is no magnet on the crankshaft.

Well, basically, when you rotate the cam magnet 90* to realign it with the crank (for what the 2.0L ECU expects) and swap the coil triggers, you're re-indexing the motor on cylinder 2 instead of cylinder 1. That may have been what you misunderstood.

Yes thats what messed me up haha. I can still use the crank sensor from the EDZ correct?

Yup.
Make sure you rotate it pretty precisely.. I know with my setup, MS will complain at about 5K if the mag is off.. Im not sure what ur using for EMS, but do it very carefully.

Again, read the thread. There is nothing to rotate for the crank sensor. You are thinking of the cam magnet.

DSTACH, the crank sensor is the same part number for 2.4 and 2.0 models.

I get that. but he will still have to rotate the cam magnet..

That has been covered - I was addressing your reply -

Ok thank you. Very very helpful!
