I just put the top end together on my 1996 eagle talon 2.0l n/t, it came with stage 2 mitsubishi racing cams, unorthodox racing underdrive pulley, head back megan racing exhaust. The egr is blocked off, the fuel return line is plugged off and the map sensor isnt plugged in(cant find the pigtail) and one other sensor on the back of the intake manifold(cant find that pigtail either). And when I took it out today it seemed to either hit a rev limiter or just lose power at about between 4-5000 rpm(not sure exactly because the tac doesnt work), im not to sure which one to describe it as(I know that doesnt help). What should be looking for?

You need a MAP signal to start.

Thats what I was told the cams were, was a racing cam from mitsubishi. Whether or not its right, im not to sure. Tomorrow im gonna get under the car to see if I can find the plug because I cannot see it from the top.

If you follow the harness that runs to the three sensors on the back of the intake manifold, I believe the plug should be at the end of that. It's been a while since I've messed with it but if I remember right that's where it is. Also, fix your rpm gauge.

This is right. If you do not find the pigtails look inside the harness to see if maybe the previous owner cut them out or maybe they were damaged and removed.

The MAP plug is circular, black, with a blue gasket on it.

My guess is that the car started loping like mine does for no reason, and the original owner fed him some bs. Bastard.

Are the wires ran through the same harness as the crankshaft sensor wires? And about the cams, most likely I was fed some BS, which if that is the case I really dont care because eventually it will get some better cams when I go to turbo it.

I believe it branches off right where the ignition coil wires come out. Think the one you're looking for actually comes around between the head and intake manifold. Grab the wires that clipn onto your valve cover bolts by the timing cover. If you grab it at the back of the valve cover and follow it toward the ecu you should run right into it. I just pulled a harness out of the junkyard today ( biggest pita I've ever had ) and I realized I kind of told you wrong yesterday. But if you do this you should run right into it.

Well I looked for the pigtail and I could not find it anywhere, but where what I did find was four wires that had been cut running along the fire wall. What color are the wires for the map sensor? Extremely dumb question but the map sensor is the one at the end of the intake manifold??

Yes the sensor is on the passenger side of the intake manifold.

Does anyone know the pin location on the ecu for the map sensor. I figured it might be easier to just splice into the wire coming out of the ecu instead of chasing it down.

Well, it would be better to just find it and plug it in instead of hacking up your ecu harness. That's just my 2 cents.

Well I got a pigtail from a junkyard and finally got a hold of someone with a 2nd gen eclipse and he was able to tell me the color of the wires. I got it all hooked up and it ran better once I started it but when I took it down the road it still did not seem to rev past about 5,000. Any ideas what else I need to be looking for or could it have anything to do with my fuel return line not being hooked up?

How are you driving without your return hooked up? How do you build fuel pressure? That's probably your problem.

Well I got the return line hooked up but then created another problem. It started leaking gas from the top of the tank, so tonight I gotta drop it and see whats going on.

So no resolution on this one? Just leaving it open and starting another thread, huh?
