So I have searched and maybe I am not typing it right in the search but...I have a 1996 eagle talon 2.0 non turbo and the person who owned it before I got it cut and plugged off the fuel return line. What is the purpose of that and will it hurt anything?

The purpose of the fuel return line is for any unused fuel to be sent back to the tank. This could cause real problems. You could build to much pressure in the fuel rail and blow a seal or mess up your injectors. I do not know why they would have cut and plugged the fuel return line I would suggest you replace the cut parts before damage happens to your fuel system.

Only half true. If you have your fuel pressure regulator by the tank in the rear of the car, you will only have one line connected to the fuel rail. My guess is that the person that had it before you either lost the schrader valve or broke the port and then just permanently closed it off. So, if you have a late style fuel system, there should only be one line going to the fuel rail and your fuel pressure regulator should be located by the fuel tank.. If you have an early style fuel system, there should be two lines coming from the rail, a feed, and a return. Make sense? Find out which fuel return type the car has first, then you will know if you need to change something. It might be just fine the way it is... But yeah, there's supposed to be a return of some type regardless. So, if you do in fact have an early style, you could damage something.... Find out.

late 94- early 96 have the single line that run to the fuel rail. Everything after that has two lines. See what month your 96 was made in and then look at the fuel rail and lines you should be able to find out that way for sure what type you have.

I have a late style fuel system on my 97, fuel feed to the rail, no return Line from the rail to the tank and the schrader valve is blocked off. Fpr is by the fuel tank. At least that's how it was when I was stock anyway ;)

Could you elamberate on were I am wrong to provide the correct information to the OP and my self? The information I posted is how I have read on a lot of thread (dsmtuner.com). So If you could please correct me.

Build date is 6/95...could that cause the car to lose power and act like its hitting a rev limiter at around 4-5000 rmp(not sure because the tac doesnt work).

I believe all 95's had a return line, so if you don't have one, that's not good.

Well I finally found the return line under the car and got it hooked up to the rail. But now I am leaking gas pretty bad from the top of the gas tank, I am going to drop the tank tonight and see whats going on. I am hoping that once that is fixed then she will rev right.

So no resolution on this one? Just leaving it open and starting another thread, huh?
