does anybody know how would a auto GSX do on a 1/4 mile?

It would suck on the launch. It would be faster than an NT. The AWD launch without a rev would not be that good. I read in sport compact I believe that any car must have some traction loss somewhere, even a little, just to get it going at a respectable speed.

I think stock would be high 14's, or low 15's, but there is a auto gsx running 13's here in socal, which is pretty good I think...

i few dollars and you could be doing 12-13's in an auto gsx. but honestly i would get manaul. And if you want a sleeper with big balls get a 1 gen awd like i just did. I luv the power and the traction. But i also like my 98 rs for it's looks. That's why i'm keeping both of them..yaya...can't wait for this weekend. maybe i'll hit some of my pools for the superbowl and i'll have all my new toys for my 1gen before opening day at the track.... i'll be posting some pics soon of it. it's just been raining the past couple of days and i have been working crazy so i haven't taken any pics...

you have to realize, a stage 2 is good for taking a stock GST. A stock GSX has a better launch. And if you have this, and he is modded by then as well, he will give u hell. He would probably beat you just do to the fact that he is AWD. Not sure though. Autos aren't that good after you have one for a while.

>you have to realize, a stage 2 is good for taking a stock >GST.
a STAGE 1 420a eclipse will take a stock gst. a stage 2 will leave a gst in dust

13491, how about a auto RSX eclipse ...? Posted by RSin oRACLe, Feb-01-02 11:47 AM
i know the amount of money would be insane to spend ... but if i could .. i would swap the Chrysler Town and Country tranny into my baby RS ... its a 5 speed awd auto .. so it might be able to be swapped to the 420a .. drooooooool .. that should be looked into ... but my lack of having money would hinder my italian ass from actually doing this .. lol so with that in mind .. i will leave u all to your day

AWD 5 speed auto. hmmmmm. nah, too much $$$. A lot of the stage 2's I have seen are running in the 14's. That is where most of the GS-T's and GSX's that bother taking the cars to a track run. Basic bolt ons like open air filters and exhaust which matches to what a stage 2 has. Stage 2 uses an upgraded exhaust. It also comes with an open element filter. I dunno. I think a 5 speed stage 2 should be able to take an auto GST or GSX. GSX would probably do a lil better off the jump tho. Dunno.

Wrong :)
There is a thing called Brake Torquing. I hope you auto guys know what this is.
At the line, you keep the car in Drive, mash the brakes with your left foot, and hit the gas till the torque converter hits its stall speed. This is usually around 3k rpm or so. Then when the light turns green, you let off the brake and mash the throttle. This launches the car just like it would if you were revving the engine with the clutch in at the line in a 5spd.
Now this gets interesting with a turbo, because when you have the car in drive with the brakes on, a load is being put on the engine. Turbos only produce boost when there is a load on the engine, so you have a good 3500 rpm launch with full boost. Try doing that with a 5spd. (it can be done, but you need either an Eprom ECU with a TMO upgrade, or an MSD ignition).
My roomate's auto Talon TSi AWD runs 12.2 at 20psi. Stock torque converter. Never felt a harder launch. He has to use the E-brake though or else he will pull right through the brakes. My next car will be an auto AWD 2G.

My friend just started working at a mitsu dealer, he tried out an auto stock gsx, he say my stage 2 would beat it pretty easily.

13497, RE: Auto GSX Posted by Jeff_99gs, Feb-02-02 07:24 AM
Of course a stage 2 would beat it easily. Its stock. Get a boost controller in the GSX and you have a race on your hands. My near stock TSi AWD is faster than my GS. It would be a close race from a roll, but from a stop the GS wouldn't have a chance.
What color smoke was coming out of the GSX?
Black = fuel blue = oil white = coolant
If you saw the amount of black smoke that comes out of my roomate's Talon when he takes off you would think he has a midget in his engine bay dumping buckets of gas in the spark plug holes. He still gets 350 or so miles to the gallon on the highway.

it was blue

13499, RE: Auto GSX Posted by Mannyyy, Feb-02-02 01:50 PM
white smoke = coolant?
How do you get rid of this? Replacing the thermostat?
|
13500, RE: Auto GSX Posted by Jeff_99gs, Feb-02-02 07:40 PM
I meant to say 350 miles to the tank, not gallon.
Coolant burning means the headgasket is blown. replace the headgasket.
