134502, MAP sensor?
Posted by emc, Jul-02-11 01:22 PM
The car has been driven very little in the last few years. For a few months it has been stalling and sometimes running rough. The CEL is not on and there are no codes that can be pulled up. I cleaned the IAC and blew some carb cleaner through the upper intake as it was pretty oily. Today wife took it out and the car will not rev past 3500 or so and wont go over 45mph. Its a 5sp so there shouldnt be a LIMP mode. I hate to start throwing parts at it but without any codes would a MAP sensor be a likely cause and shouldnt that throw a code. Next guess would be a ECU but ouch.

Sound like its misfiring? Check coil/wires/plugs? Fuel pressure? Diagnose prior to spending money.

Check your throttle cable as well. Make sure that the two bolts that connect it to the IM are tight and it is set correctly. Also check the idle set screw to make sure it is properly set.

Just curious, not a bump, OP, have you ended up replacing the MAP sensor, or did you start simple with plugs, wires, coil?

Again, Just being a curious George.

Sounds as if you need a tune up! As stated, check those plugs and your wires/coil pack.
