134459, Help with tuning Megasquirt II Posted by awamsley, Jun-28-11 03:03 PM
I dropped my car off to the tuner to get my megasquirt installed and he is having trouble. Does anyone know who he can call to get a little help with it? From what I understand the car is dumping way too much fuel at idle and is fouling out the spark plugs. I am not familiar with the program and don't know who to call. I called another tuning shop that was familiar with megasquirt and the man that knew the program doesn't work there anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

Kind of hard to tell you anything without seeing a log of what's going on.

Post your tuning file, log file, and all specs of the MegaSquirt hardware and the engine.

Your "tuner" should probably create an account on the megasquirt message board and ask his questions there:

There is a forum specifically for MSII Extra users. If the guy has never installed a Megasquirt, he will probably find that it is not profitable to invest the time in learning everything to properly tune your car and give it back to you with a lot of bugs left to work out. Good luck.

I really hope that isn't what happens, and he gets it running. I am not close to the car, so I can't get the logs. The owner of the shop said he was having problems even pulling a log for some reason. Now he is on vacation till Tuesday, and then he leaves again on Friday. I want to just go pick up my car and bring it home, but that really doesn't do me any good either if I can't find someone to tune it.

Well, I picked up the car...towed it home. When I got it here I downloaded the newest firmware, and tuner studio ms. The car would fire and run for about 3 seconds before. After installing the new firmware and tuner studio I get nothing. The car will crank, but it will not fire. Any help on basic set-up of tuner studio would be much appreciated. I called symtech labs today since they are less then a half hour away and they couldn't even give me anyone who installs and tunes the EMS kits. So I am really starting to second guess building this car, and installing this computer which everyone says is the best thing for our cars!

Read over the software manual for MegaSquirt II: http://msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/MS2-Extra_Conversion.htm
Also check out the wiki as it has all the pertinent links on the 420a application: http://www.2gnt.com/?d=Megasquirt_Resources_and_Information
Every setting has documentation - the MegaSquirt project is not guess work.
If you end up scrapping the project, I will take it off your hands for you heh.
