134284, fyi for 2.4 guys needing pan

I was at the junk yard the other day looking for an srt4. I couldn't find one. I did find a pt cruise and the oil pans are the same. (oil filter on back side) They do not have the cooler but you can use the srt4 oil pump with it. Just thought I'd tell you guys before buying $100 pans. Mine was $21

To sum it up. Pt cruiser oil pan (with oil filter on back) will bolt up to edz block when used with str4 oil pump.

It's mostly the same block, same oil pump casting, same pan. That's pretty common knowledge. You can't use the cooler anyway, and I'm not sure anyone is using the stock oil filter elbow on the back of the pan...

I am ;)

But only because I run an unmodified SRT pan. Cutting the pan for downpipe provisions requires alternative oil filter considerations.

So how did you get around it Dave? Just a few bends & turns in your DP? Or did you mess with the Crossmember?

If you can put a edz oil pan on the srt4 oil put the I'm impressed. The edz had oil filter casted to the oil pump. Srt4 does not.

And Dave just saw the vid of your car. That is one mean sounding eclipse!!

it *is* the same flange, so yeah, technically the pan would bolt up... but that isn't what i said in the first place.

Here is mine.

I'm using an adaptor plate that connects to the where the OFH would go. The filter will be relocated in front of the passenger wheel behind the bumper.

Its not the same flange. The oil pump side is much different. The rest is identical but the side the oil pump goes to in much different.

The only difference I am aware of is that the PT / SRT4 cast pans have oil passages machined through them, and a slightly wider area of the flange where they enter the pan. Otherwise, it's the same flange and bolt pattern. You could probably modify a stamped EDZ pan to bolt up if you plan to use a remote oil filter.

It doesn't matter, because that's still not what I said in the first place.

That's exactly what I wanted to do. Unfortunately, as you can see in the pic below, i would've had to cut into the flange as well as the sidewall of the pan to gain access to both filter passages. I have since decided to just go with the SRT pan.

Thank you for the pic. thats what I was talking about. I posted because the pt pan is identical to srt4 just less cost and junkyards have them

It's good info. Grab the PT side MM bracket/PS pump mount bracket, too... it's handy.
