Well id like to prime the oil pump. Since im using Terrys custom pan that requires remote filter location, im wondering if i can get some lithium assembly lube, and squeeze it into the "in" and "out" port of the oil pump, and in conjunction with that, ad 1/2 a qt or so to the filter. then I assume ill be good to crank a few time (without spark/fuel) until i see some Oil pressure. correct?

As for capacity, its a custom pan, so im not sure of cap.. should i just go with the 5 Qts or?

Did you add any oil to the pump while it was off the motor? If not, why? Filter should always be filled prior to install. Google it - there are many many ways to prime an oil pump for a fresh build. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+prime+an+oil+pump

Is the pan already installed? If not, test fill it to see how much is needed to bring it to the appropriate level. You do not want the counterweights to make contact with the oil level.

If the pan is already installed, then you need to use a piece of wire or something similar to find out the depth and go from there.

Do not take this personally, (well you can if you want), but you seem to be doing things a little backward here.

Also, is there is a reason why you are not condensing all your 2.4 related questions in your build thread now that you made one?

When I got the motor from terry, the pump was already installed, as well was the pan. At the time, i didnt see a reason id need to take the pan off. Now that its in the car id like to not drop the pan if i can avoid it. Thats prolly where some of this is ass backawards lol.
You mentioned wire.. i have a 2.4 dipstick.. could i insert and fill pan till ; full note the amount and move on?

As for primimg, i searched on here and agree, priming pump by filling with vasoline or assybly lube is the way to go, thts why i was wondering if i can simply "inject" some lube in thru the pump inlet. The pan has an fittings welded to it that route directly into the pump, thats why i thought i could possibly inject from the ports.

I fill the filter and crank the motor with the injectors unplugged until it makes oil pressure.
