Posted by streetlightning, May-16-11 08:18 AM
Thought Id start a Project log.. I like to thank in advance 2GNT, for the enormous amount of help I’ve received.. Thanks guys!
My goals, are a nice, clean, streetable torque monster.

Engine:
99 EDZ block Forged Veniola Pistons, and Rods with total seal conventional Rings with a CR of ~ 9.0:1
The short block assembly is balanced, main and rod bearings are clevites.
SRT4 timing tensioner, with 10 mm bolt mod, SRT 4 oil pump and SRT water Pump
The oil pan is a steel pan fabricated from scratch (by STT). The oil filter is setup for a remote filter bracket and line set. the Oil pan has -8 AN fittings for pump outlet and inlet. I plan n mounting the remote oil filter on the pass frame rail.

AMM intake manifold with MP 60mm TB
Hahn 3” down pipe, ans 3” all the way to the rear with no cat

Head:
Used ARP hard ware (pieced together by STT), Mopar MLS HG with hot glue to hold it together…
SBR stg 3 Head:
PnP
SS Valves
+1mm on the exhaust side
Crane Springs and retainers
Crower Stg 2 (6446-2) cams
Bronze valve guides
Crane Adj cam gears
PT lifters and 2.7 Rockers
Turbo/Fuel/EMS:
S20g with ceramic coating
Log Mani with ceramic coating
Hahn FMIC
Turbo XS RFL
2.5” IC piping
PTE 1000cc Low Z injectors
MSnSE running as stand alone with sequential injection
Wally 255 High flow
6AN SS feed from pump to rail
STT aluminum fuel rail
Aeromotive 1:1 FPR with 6 an SS return line

Trans/brakes:
3.55 Neon trans
Quaife LSD
DSS stg 5 axles (off Hahns car)
Soutbend OFE clutch
GSX front caliper conversion
Things to come:
New rims ( something deep dish and 5 spoke)
Rear gsx conversion aka drum to disk
New tubeular exhaust mani, and all new 3” v-banded all the way back
GT30R upgrade or something simalar

I Started by removing my built 2.0, getting the body ready for paint. Decided on a nice gloss black. Enjoy the pix: )

Looks good. Now you can put all your 2.4 questions in here instead of creating an individual thread every time, heh. I think now I will merge all your shit here.

Well, after a short season, i washed my walls.. im special.. I was to rich, so it was a tuning problem. But it was a blessing in disguise.. I noticed while putting everything back together, that the infamous crane/findanza cam gears were starting to crack! good thing i caught it! i got me some Unorthodox gam gears now. I also manualized my rack, and had IJ build me a custom scraper and trap doors for my pan.. came out amazing!

Adding this winter:
pte billet DBB 5857
(with old comp housing)

building an equal length SS exhaust manifold

eVO Recaros, kitten approved

and added Crower springs and Ti retainers

What paint code did you use? Can you explain those aerocatch latches on your bumper. Take some close up pictures for a small write up. Great job.

Nice. There's guy on tuner with a silver 2gb awd did samething to his front bumper with anodized latches.

yea, i think hes using the dzus latches.. imo they dont look good and they back out under driving contions, thus what prompted me to create a system using the aerocatches

I'm glad your cat is trained!! I left ONE Sparco Torino seat in my girlfriends living room for about 5 minutes, came back and her cat had just started trying to use it as a scratch pole!!

Anyway, are there more videos I missed of the engine running here? super stoked on this build, I am also a NO rain driver.

Well a lil update. so last year i washed my walls trying to tune MS. this sucked, but was a godsend.. as my sweet (sarcasm) findanza gears were starting to crack! the neon guys warned me. they were right. got it before they could damage anything.. talk bout lucky..
replaced them with a set of 2.4 Unorthodox gears and PC'd them to match

i sprung for a new comp housing for the 5857, one with a Vband, and also PC'd it.

Ditched my AGX setup and went with the Tein SS with pillow ball mounts

while i was in the suspension area, i got some PC'd knuckles, as well as pc'd what ever else i could, and inserted some poly bushings

also added a RDSM front sway

IJ work of art installed

Rear drum to disk swap.. PC'd of course, with d3 chassis stiffinign parts

Re-assy the rear suspension, all PC'd with new polly bushings

Wedge engineering seat brackets

Recaros in

CF door panel mocked

Manifold ####!

Everything looks pretty good man, especially clean.

One of these days I'll get around to installing all the poly suspension bushings I've had sitting around.

This may be a dumb question( But i'm asking anyways :) ), How come your t-belt tensioner has what looks like a bolt, instead of a nut like mine did?
137291, RE: Project Interceptor: 2.4 Build
Posted by streetlightning, Aug-25-12 09:45 PM
Because ot does. Its the "bolt" mod. Its an in between mod for those with cams, but cams that are not quite big enough to require a billet tensioner. Its pretty popilar in the srt world.
