134113, Fresh Rebuild with CEL
Posted by Snail_GS, May-12-11 09:31 PM
Hey guys, I'm currently getting P0340, P0123 and P1495. At the moment my only concern is the P0340 code, I have check continuity from the CAS harness and PCM, Checked for power which was 5volts with the key on the ON position. Both Cam and Crank sensors are new. I checked for corrosion and damaged leads/harness, and have yet to find anything. One thing I did notice was the sound of the fuel pump priming, and ASD relays clicking while standing in front of the vehicle randomly(only a few times) on and off. I got in the car thinking WTF, I looked at the gauges and the tach&speedo bounce, fuel pump primed again. Turning over the Vehicle it takes a few turns before it starts (P0340 code) But Idles ok 900-1000 rpms.

Motor specs as follow:
10.5:1 Pistons
Crane #12
and All the Old sensors but the ones listed above.

Any ideas and Help would be appreciate

I've seen at least once over the years where accidentally swapping the coil and VSS damaged the ECU. Just something to think about...

Really weird I woke up (3:28am) thinking I either have a short at the VSS harness or maybe even a broken lead somewhere. Good Note Dino, when I get to work tomorrow I'll check Mitchell for wiring diagrams to see if they share a common ground or power supply. Anyone have a spare 98/99 PCM, they want to sell? just in case =/

They don't share either as far as I am aware, the coil being 12v+ and the VSS being on the 8v rail...

Well I either have a short somewhere in the harness or my PCM is going hayware, I tug on the harness and I get nothing but, randomly the relays will click and fuel pump prime. Going to hook up new leads from the CAS to the PCM, to see what I get. Should the check engine light stay on with the key on the ON position(stays on for a few seconds) SRS light being the last to go off.

Can anyone tell me, the location of the grounds Other than Battery to chassis, Intake mani to chassis, and Exhaust to chassis.

Look under the ECU near the stock airbox location. All the ECU grounds are there.

DING DING DING! Not sure what symptoms others had with Coil, and VSS crossed, But I had a P0340 code that would not go away even after clearing it. My symptom was a longer than normal turn over (as if a CAS was bad) But started and ran fine. Got a rebuild PCM from a friend that one laying around in his body shop(Lucky) for one Hundred bucks. Thanks Dino
