133900, Need tunning...vehicle in socal Posted by hernando, Apr-18-11 04:39 PM
I've been trying to find a shop that will tune my car...i have yet to fix all the boost leaks and fix all the parts that can break...should be done by the end of the month. I have to feather the gas pedal to get the correct boost and can't go beyond 5500 rpm because i don't know the settings. I would truly appreciate a shop that can tune my car. so tired of seeing ricers barely getting beat by my car...i know it can do better but i cant hit high revs.

You need to provide a lot more information: such as your engine management system for starters. Start calling around your local speed shops and search the Internet for reviews.
EDIT: and tunning is spelled tuning. Use a spellchecker please.

***EDIT*** ^beat me to it.
Kind of hard to help you when you give us no real useful information at all. What are your mods, what tuning device do you have, where are you located, etc.

You're in Riverside, so RRE in Santa Fe Springs is a 45 min drive away. They may give you some hate for bringing in a 420a, but they've helped tune 420a turbo's before.

So how do you expect to be tuned? You have no tuning hardware.

I agree, I do not see FCD or missing link listed. Sure you are not hitting fuel cut?

i get fuel cut off when i accelerate between 3k rpm....DAM...i either have yet to find the tunning hardware or find the missing link....or i gotta go get either one...where would i find these? I am trying my best to make this car be resurrected before it becomes junked. thanks.

Because I am feeling nice:

Pick your poison. FCD is more reliable.

Is that like a hydroelectric dam? :D I didn't see any FMU in your list did your kit come with that? Wally 255? Did you buy this car with a turbo or did you do it yourself? If you bought it with a turbo you might want to do some research on how to turbo a 420A and check to make sure that whoever put it in didn't screw up anything else. The FCD or missing link is pretty basic knowledge for someone doing the work themselves on a 420A. Damn, good luck. }(

So you are saying you are having problems when running a turbocharger on a stock naturally aspirator platform and stock fuel system?
You have much research to do. Or just pay someone to build it for you.

Did anyone else catch the 4 inch exhaust? It might be a diesel. }(
Sorry OP couldn't help myself. Take it to a shop and bring your check book.

its a bit excessive for an exhaust....i know. I am going to try the shop that was recommended and i will work on it or pay someone. It's a diamond in the rough and I can't bare to see it be junked by my hands.

I think its a little late for that.. this is what you get when you buy a car from some one who gave up b/c they didnt know what they were doing.. as everyone's said you have a lot of research to do..either way as it sits, your going to have to invest some cash, one was is cheaper then the other.. but in your case. id recommend taking it some where and having them build it... you didnt get a diamond, you got a 1/2 assed turd.given you dont know much about whats in it.. its hard to believe the engine would be in good shape to boost, or continue to boost on if you got the right hardware.. i think some one tried to build it, couldnt get it to work right (like whats happening to you) and ditched it.

Greddy tiC never came in 4" for the FWD DSM. Its a 3" exhaust, possibly a 2.5".
