Ok so i think i know my problem to why my car is stuttering. I am pretty sure that the filter is dirty and it getting clogged which is cause my car to stutter when accelerating at a fast rate. Question is where is it located on 95' eclipse gs and how to change it so that this problem doesnt continue.

On the firewall, right behind and below the throttle body. Unscrew the fittings and bracket, be careful you don't break the line on the lower fitting, and install the new one.

I always found it convienient that my filter was right on the firewall. What year did they start putting them under the car? 97?

Ok i am at the fuel filter and now I cant get bolts loosened, any help at this. An can the line break?? I dont want that to happen. Any1 that has done this before can i get some advice

Make sure you are using line wrenches to prevent destroying any fittings.

This might be dum question but when i undo bolts fuel aint just going to pore out is it?

Yes, there will be fuel in the lines, filter, fuel rail and it will come out.

It will leak out the remaining fuel in the lines, but shouldnt be under too much pressure, if any at all. And after it dribbles out it should be done.

K and question when i revv my car up to say about 4k rpms the thermometer starts going crazy this is the cause of the fuel filter bad??

That shouldn't be the fuel filter, are you low on coolant?

Could be a bad ground on the cluster or a loose connection on the sensor itself.

Thermometer huh? Did not know 2GNTs had those. Also, explain your logic how a bad cluster would cause the fuel filter to go bad...

well when i revv my car up or say im driving it. I go to floor the gas pedal and when my rpms hit about 4k the car will stutter and i can see my rpm meter stick start jumping around while car is stuttering but it happens for like 2 seconds and stops and will happen again if i stay above 3k rpms. This the fuel filter?? can it be clogged?? I will return if yall think its not it cause its giving me hell to take this top bolt off

An on top of that I am pretty sure im loosing gas millage. I use to get atleast 275 miles off a full tanks now i get like 220-240

Take out the windshield wiper reservoir, and unbolt the brake fluid container and move them out of the way, don't disconnect the hoses from the brake fluid thing though, then take the battery out. That should make it a lot easier to access the filter, the metal line on the bottom can be crimped/broken and will be a pain to replace, so be careful.

The bolt on top has two washers that you need to keep, or it will leak.

Your milage has probably gone down because you keep flooring it.

The stuttering sounds electrical related. If the tach (RPM meter stick...) is jumping like that, that indicates to me an intermittent loss of signal to the crank sensor or ECU power itself. This will take some trouble shooting.

And no, I dont think its your fuel filter, but it doesnt hurt to change it everyone once in...the life of the car...

MAP sensor can cause what you describe when it fails. Do you have a CEL?

75% throttle is still going to eat up some gas with a stutter.

If there was an intermittent problem with the crank sensor causing the tach to jump around, wouldn't that mess with ignition timing also, possibly cause a studder?

If the CEL is on, take it to a parts store that does the free check, see what codes you get. There's soooo many thing that can cause a misfiring/ studdering problem it's hard to say where to begin. If you get that light checked, maybe it'll narrow it down a bit. Just my .02c

When i did the check engine light before it will giving me the egr was bad. But I will take your advice and go get the check engine light. An sorry to come off rude about the flooring thing its just I said when I go to floor meaning I only do it to see if it will stutter. Member i cant get past 3k rpms without it stuttering alot. An can the MAP sensor be the problem??

If it is an egr code, a bad egr valve can definitely cause the studdering/misfiring you are having.

When's the last time you checked/ changed the plug wires and coil pack? Mine did that when one post on the coil got corroded somehow. Wouldn't hurt to look at that.

Egr could do that??? Well my coil is brand new its msd wires as well with ngk spark plugs

if it were stuck open, which would trigger a CEL.

Hmmm yea my cel is saying egr cause i do the key dance trick and it throws that code. I looked it up.

How would i know if its suck open or if thats the problem???

Also when i restart ecu, I heard that when you start car your iac is blocked off and the egr opens, An when i restart the ecu and theirs no check engine light I start the car and it bearly starts i have push gas and then the light comes on and then it runs fine... That the egr? An I was thinking that blocking off the egr could fix this problem what do you guys think??? Cause I will order the block off kit today if so/

Can't hurt I guess. I haven't had an EGR in a couple years. No problems or CEL what-so-ever yet.

You did the block off rite?? If so could you throw me some details on how to do it?? Cause i believe this is causing my stuttering.

Block off is very simple and straight forward. You could have checked this by simply cutting up a coke can and.......bah, nevermind, you got a kit on the way so it doesn't matter.

The kit should come with a couple of plates (depending on your kit). All you need to do is unbolt the egr and egr tube from the head and the intake and then bolt on the plates in the locations that the egr tube comes off of.

Easy peasy.

So i basically just screw the bolts into the holes, their wont be no holes open to let air out?? Or do I have to plug something

That's the right piece. You just simply unbolt your egr on the side port of the head (near your battery) and on the back of the intake plenum (the only almost brass colored pipe coming off of the intake), reuse the bolts you took out, and I used some black rtv gasket maker. Spread it around the edge of where the gasket would go and bolt it up. The end.

I left the soleniod hooked up without the vacuum line on it and have gotten no CEL. Did it on my 95 and 98. Good luck.
