Ya, so i'm about to have my transmission rebuilt (I lost 5th gear so figure why not) but i'm still in the mist of figuring out if I need a clutch or not. Point of this thread is to basically get opinions haha. Because with the way I am, if i'm gonna replace something, might as well upgrade it. Especially with me going boost within this year, and gonna start spraying in the next couple of months.. So basically, whats anyones reviews or opinions of some of the clutch systems out there? i've been lightly looking around and so far i'm kind of leaning towards the Fidanza 3.2 and 4.3. But not sure if honestly my cars ready for a ceramic (the 4.3). Its just if my cars going under the knife, I don't wanna worry about doing the same thing later this year haha. so any input, suggestions, reccomendations, or specific factors I should consider with making a choice on a clutch? Thanks in advance :D

Ok. now honestly my goal is only around 325hp. With the southbend, do you think a stg 2 would fit my needs? should I fork out for the unit with the lightened flywheel included?

or any other suggestions as far as flywheels go? can you mix flywheels with differant clutch kits? Or best to keep the flywheel and clutch from the same company?

For a street car, a lightened flywheel is not necessary. If you end up getting a modular kit (96-99 style) then the flywheel will be packaged with the clutch as a unit.

For 95's, or if you want a non-modular setup, then you can select whatever flywheel, but keep in mind that certain flywheels & friction discs are meant to work together.

I have a friend of the family that used to be Fort Wayne Clutch's Accounts Handler, and after hanging around the shop I paid one of their techs to rip apart a stock modular clutch and see what upgrades could be done. I have no idea what he did but I did notice better grab with no slip. He said something about kevlar but at the time I wasn't as car savvy as I am now and, apparently, my clutch got him fired because he pocketed the money as side work.

Any goal you may have for the car, SBC is the way to go. I'd be going with them if I wasn't already having FWC do my custom work with the R154 trans.

Not to ask a dumb question Dave, but how do I know if I have a 95 or 96-99 flywheel? The block in the car came with the current clutch/flywheel setup but that was two years ago before I started learning about these motors and basic car skills haha. So I have no idea if it's an actual 97 block/flywheel like I was told.

And yes, I did say hp but I meant 325whp lol sorry. I honestly would like to keep the car completly capable of everyday driving.

Well i'm thinkig about ordering the SB stg3. Anyone with specific experiance with this one? I feel it should be perfect for what I have planned throughout the year.
