Hello dear persons;

97 eclipse, its an off white color.

Key doesn't turn over engine. But enough with that, it looks to have been "tinkered w/" if you catch my meaning.

I used a wrench and connected the one bolt w/ the other on the starter and the car turns over. However there is no spark off coils. I did old school screwdriver test and mult meter test, no spark.

The meter test from 1 to 4 and 2 to 3, was in Ohm parameters, supposedly, I have no FSM for this car as of yet, so I'm going off interweb info. The meter said the wires were getting the correct voltage as it turned over, maybe, i think. idk. it was very high voltage.

The Cam angle sensor, i think, (420a) it's on drivers side of engine, looked old, but i cleaned it, it's getting voltage to the harness at least. dont know how much it should be getting but it looked consistent with what i read.

tl:dr summary:

No spark, don't think there is a bad Dist Cap, the wires look new, voltage going to them consistent w/ supposed parameters. I'm thinking either one of the CAS or CKPS are bad, if there is even two sensors. Everywhere i looked was different answer, no one agreed to what the acronyms even meant. Is there a way to properly test the sensors before replacement, as they are expensive. Thank you.

Bonus question:
By bridging the starter, I attached my compression guage to one cylinder. Zero to 5 psi. Dry test. no wet test done, too discouraged. No coolant, though residue looked brown, maybe head gasket, teeth on timing belt in good condition. What would be more time worthy, testing and perhaps overhaul, or lighting the car on fire? jk, i don't know how to overhaul anything.

Lol, looks like you got a bit of a project on your hands. No comp and no spark.

Well, let's take it a step at a time. First question and then we can move on; Are you throwing a cel (check engine light)? If so, you can do the "key dance" (http://www.2gnt.com/index.php?d=PCM%20Error%20Codes) and find out what the cel is.

Since you were able to jump the starter, I would lean toward the starter being the problem (obviously the solenoid ON the starter, hence the ability to jump it).

And let's leave the comp problem alone for the moment (though I suspect that it will be the biggest obstacle to overcome).

If you are manually engaging the starter (screwdriver method, etc) without powering the ignition, the ASD relay is not going to be on, so sensors, ignition, and injectors will not receive power.

You need to ensure that everything that is supposed to be supplied with power, is receiving power during cranking and run positions.

Read: solve ignition key switch problem, or manually feed power to ECU & related EFI hardware.

Ok, big thanks for replying.

There is no CEL flashing or even emitting.

I stick key in ignition, it beeps, door light comes on if door is open, I turn key...nothing.

Car beeps if door is open, if closed...silence.

As for the second poster,

yes, that makes sense. I am very ignorant about vehicles. Please accept my apologies.

It looked as if someone tried to cram a screwdiver or other such device in the ignition. There was an alarm, undercar floor lights, dvd player, funny guages, aftermarket steering wheel. And lots and lots of unconnected, bare wires, in all colors. much like a rainbow. though little promise of a golden chalice of the gods awaiting me near the steering column.

Summary:

I should
1) Fix ignition problem.
2) Don't fuck with anything else until I do step 1.

Is that about right? :)

Now that I have the FSM, is there a description of the voltages that feed into the ignition to determine if adequate electricity is supplied? Or do I just troubleshoot the why of no cranky when turn key?
