132342, Clearance for pusher fans? Posted by Cyexmaster, Nov-10-10 12:11 PM
I need to run a pusher fan setup on my car and want to know how much clearance there is between the radiartor and the a/c panel.
Will this fans fit? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-x-12-SLIM-RADIATOR-12V-ELECTRIC-FAN-MOUNT-PUSH-PULL-/220687173950?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3361fb093e#ht_3608wt_939
I could measure it but I don't have the car with me and I would like to order the fans as soon as possible. Thanxs in advance...

if ur trying to run a pusher fan setup and keep the ac condensor, it wont work iirc. no room, unless u remove it.

Yeah, I can't remember if you were retaining AC or not. But as far as the opening goes, I could just barely fit a 14" fan as a pusher on my 1/2 radiator (same deal. I mean, It was fitting in the same opening), so the 12" should be no problem. But I couldn't tell you if you could fit two 14" fans side by side.

You can't mount them between the radiator and condenser... not enough space.
I have two (2) 12" slim pusher fans mounted to the front of my A/C condenser. It's a tight fit, and you'll have to bend a couple hard lines, but they fit. Also, you should probably plan on wiring both fans together, because one fan running won't be enough when it's mounted on the front of the condenser.
Edit: Here you go, I found this picture... these are 12" Hayden slim fans from Autozone...

Well thanxs for the input guys....
To explain some more of the particular situation well I had to modify the manifold and flip the water pipe for it to fit with the stock radiator...
I switched the fans because the passenger side one would no fit now, so it got moved to the drivers side. But still there is very little space for a fan so thats why I was thinking of going with the pusher route...
The stock fan will stay but I wanted to squeeze 2 more fans in there just in case... Remember I am in the tropics ant temps don't get that low even at night time.... :/
here are some pics...

Could be an optical illusion because of the angles of the pics, but with the clearance you have there I'd make sure to have a solid front motor mount.
Just mount the fans like Dougie's pic. If you're concerned about airflow going the wrong way you can get some foam home weatherstripping from the hardware store and seal the edges between the condenser and the radiator to force the air straight through the radiator.

It is tight and the motor mounts sides:poly inserts and the front/rear mounts I filled up entierly with 3M window weld and left drying for weeks those things are rock solid...! if those give out I'll just have one solid one made out of steel or something....
