132228, Car Stalling While Driving

Hey guys...

I've posted about this problem before probably over 2 years ago but still having the same issues but it has gotten worse.

Originally, the car would buck/stutter under load. Now it's gotten to the point where while I'm driving the car under normal load, the car actually dies.

To reproduce this, when the car would buck, I would push the clutch in and see if it will idle. The car actually dies and since the car is still rolling, I would just kick start the car again.

When this happens, it seems like the car is in some failing mode. When I come to a stop, the car would die and it would take a little to start back up but when it does, it won't hold idle. I would have to give it some gas to keep it and i would eventually idle as expected.

So in the past 2 years, I've replaced the crank sensor, cam angle sensor, coil, wires and plugs.

I haven't done is check my IACV to see if that's the culprit. I haven't checked the TPS either. I plan on checking those this weekend if time permits.

I guess my question is, would the IACV cause the car to buck under load? I could see it creating an idle problem for sure. I have a feeling that it may be the ECU since a lot of posts in the forum are referencing it.

Thanks in advance

Well, the bucking is your car dieing then starting back up. I presume that your dash lights don't flicker on when that happens (which would indicate a possible electrical short). Does this bucking happen when you are on throttle, or only when you are off the throttle?

The car bucks when I'm on the throttle. Most of the time when I'm at a cruising speed so I'm barely on the throttle and it would do it.

I noticed the other day it did when I was on the throttle and it never did that before.

Not sure what it could be.

Thanks for the reply

Of course the problem is that you have an intermitten problem and it could be a multitude of things (anything from fuel to spark to a short). That leaves a lot of room for checking items.

I'm sure you already answered this but, any cels? There should be at least a misfire cel.

No CEL at all.

ok, one more step; does the cel light come on when you turn the key to the on position?

Anyone know where I can buy a reman ECU? I don't want to get one from the junker since those are probably going bad too. I had a gut feeling that it's my ECU but I really wanted to rule that out.

x2 on the ecu. I had the exact same problem. Just replace it. I got mine for 200 bucks. I'll look into where i got it from. Once they program it they'll overnight it to you. I replaced it about 2 weeks ago.

Ur local auto zone or advance auto should have one and i paid 220 for mine which was a exchange for old one. Call them up and it should take like 2 days if that for the new one to arrive. After that hook it up and you should be set.
