132095, Help! Wierd sound when I first start. Posted by maddogxx, Oct-27-10 10:05 AM
Hello, I am new to the forums. I just bought my 98 Eclipse RS a couple of months ago and love it, I have always wanted one. So everytime I first start my car and begin to move, I hear a sound of rushing water somewhere behind the dash?? It only happens when I first start it up or after the car has been turned off and sat a while?? What do you guys think this could be, there are no leaks just the sound of swooshing water. Thanks in advance.
Dave

Very possible that your heater core is in need of replacing. The rushing you may hear is the coolant rushing into an empty core. The core may be leaking when you shut it off. If it is leakign you will smell it.
Another possability is that the hoses are leaking outside the at the firewall.
It is very possible to have heater core issues and still get heat.
Now you must also consider the coolant is siphoning due to a low coolant level. Make sure your coolant level is full and your radiator cap holds pressure (14-16psi)
