QUESTION!!!!!!!! :D

i hate to steal the thread... but i have JE aftermarket pistons and i wanted to know if the crower stage 2 clears the piston on normal timing? i can't really clay it and see.. its basically put in cams, set timing (based on stock cam timing technique), bolt it all together and crank.

im confused. as far as i can remember, i think crower only makes valve springs and cams for our car. Even if you had 12.5:1 high comp pistons, they won't contact the pistons unless you had custom made monster cams... even then, i still don't think they'd contact.

i am talking about the crower stage 2 cams lol.

There's a lot of variables to consider, which make it impossible to answer this question online... but they *should* clear for you no problem as long as there is nothing about your engine out of the ordinary. JE pistons have large valve reliefs.

Sometimes guys will put the head on without a gasket and carefully rotate the engine to "feel" for PTV interference, and if all is good, then they go ahead and install the gasket and head. It's not a sure fire way to check for PTV clearance, but it's better than nothing. Of coarse, it's always best to take the extra time to either clay it or measure it with light checking springs, a solid adjustable lifter and a dial gauge while you're degreeing in the cams. Recommended clearance is 0.100" on the intake and 0.125" on the exhaust to be on the real safe side. I have JE 8.8:1 pistons and only 0.060" clearance (huge custom cams) and it's been working out fine for me.

how big is huge? lol. im just curious how big i can go.

i have 0 deck (at TDC the piston is flush with the top of the block) and the head is shaved .025

im running je 8.8:1 pistons and aftermarket crane valve springs

You better just clay it. there is no reason not to.

could you tell me how big your cam is?

290 deg duration (valve @ .006") and .459" valve lift

im running crower stage 4 or something.. .454" lift if i believe.. 8.8:1 wiescos... no contact made. good clearence.
