Car drives and everything, Just when I let it sit while turned on it will shutoff. I got new ecu about 2 months ago because it was shuting off all the time and now its going back to that problem. An when the car is running and in natural just siting their the rpms keep going from 800 to a 1000 n then to 1200 and back down to 800 it just keeps idling weird and sometimes acts like it wants to shut off and sometimes it does but starts right back up. Can anyone help me with this problem please

I already did but I dont know what the problem is. I have not put it on a machine yet to get codes. But my dad thinks its the o2 sensor to why the check engine light is on and why its idling the way it is

Everybody thinks that the CEL is just for the O2 sensor and they're usually wrong. What year is your car? You might be able to do the keydance to get a generic code from the CEL flashing.

$1 says it's not the O2 sensor.

Very good. Go do the keydance and let us know what the codes are. Given that information, there's a good chance we can tell you what's wrong.

I Am not really sure how to do the key dance Ive read what to do, but how do I know what code it is... Sorry im not really that good with cars yet I'm just learning thank to anyone that explains

OK found out problem it is a vacuum leak, I can hear the leak and tested it with carb cleaner. Anyone have any idea as to how to fix it??

Lol, well I'm glad I got to this first.

We need a bit more information on location and exactly what is leaking. Basically, whatever is leaking, replace seal/gasket so it doesn't leak.......

My dad said it was gasket, It was behind my intake i do not know how to describe location. I just know it was behind the intake at the end. My dad sealed it but I am still having problem with my rpm's and it still shuts off here and their. When i am driving my check engine light will be on, but when i am driving sometimes the light will go off but when it does my car like studiers and then when it comes back on at high rpm's it studiers again. Any idea why it is doing that???

check the idle air control sensor. my car was having trouble doing a similar thing, turns out i forgot to plug that bad boy back in after the rebuild.

it'll be right there behind the throttle body, should be an oval shape. take it off, clean it, plug it back in.

let us know what happens.

Ok wow that could be the problem, My dad replaced my head gasket and couple other things and he does not really know how to work on eclipse so maybe he forgot to plug back in or something who know's i will take up on your advice and update you in morning thank for that info man.
