I'm doing my required oil change and I'm having a very tough time getting my filter off. I do believe the previous owner didnt change it, due to it's condition and how tight it is from the pressure build up.

The filter is a fram grip. I've tried bare hand no luck with a rag same thing also tried a snap on oil filter Pilers, and same results no luck either. The pilers is only squeezing the filter and it still won't break loose.

This is the first time this happend, it was never this tough.

I don't a oil filter band wrench, is there another way to remove it. note: I sprayed it with wd40 still no luck.

I need help asap, my 2g is on jack stands and its my only DD.

Take a large screwdriver, hammer it into the side of the filter. Grab handle of the screwdriver and turn.

Believe it or not, I agree with this. It sounds awfully Mickey Mouse and hack and all, but I have had to do it this way before. But I usually send the screw driver all the way through both sides for more leverage.

Just keep in mind what's going on; there is just that small piece of metal wrapped around the oil filter post. I've had them where I have torn all of the filter off until I got to just the metal on the post, lol. Someone may have used some lock tight on there or something.

I agree with the screwdriver trick. Having it tightened too much when it was installed can make it extremely difficult to remove.

Also, FRAM filters aren't that great. I don't recommend them.

Me either. I recommend any of the Champs made filters. Mobil 1, Royal Purple, K&N, etc.

Looks like I'll be needing a new oil pan in the near future. But, I'm going to change the gasket instead, sometime soon. To see what I'll find, hoping for nothing.

Next up will be my atx filter, it hasnt gave me problems since I filled it when I bought. Weather is looking good so far, it'll be done this week.

I went with mopar oe filter and it'll be my main choice, budget reasons. Very cheap at walmart. I did use k&n all the time, till job screwing my around.
