I'm changing my exhaust from factory to a 3" ebay N1 style catback on my 98RS-T. I was wondering if you guys have any tips or tricks to get these stupid catalytic converter bolts/nuts out on the muffler side. The last one I had done the muffler shop heated and wrenched them off. I don't have access to a torch that gets hot enough to do that, and I also don't have the end section,third section w/ muffler, of the factory system to drive there. (I live in virginia and that's a no-no, 20 exhaust tickets so far).

So far I've tried PB Blaster, impact, hella long cheater bar, cheap torch... just about everything I could think to no avail. I really don't want to cut them off and drill the rest out, but if that's my only option then I have no choice. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just keep spraying PB blaster on it and let it soak.

I would also tap it a few times in between soaking. Spray it, let it soak a few min, and tap it with a hammer or small sledge. Then try to break her loose.

I just did this, I ended up using my cutoff wheel to notch out the flange on the cat and I used oversized flare head bolts and nuts to get it all tightened down.

Just saw them off and replace with new. I don't even bother fucking with them at all anymore.

Step one: cut or blow bolts off.
