131172, no current to sparkplugs or fuel pump Posted by Jpatino44, Jul-22-10 03:02 PM
my 95 eclipse wont get any power to the sparkplugs or fuel pump, there is power though because the stereo and all the gauge lights go on. my dad and i connected the fuel pump dirctly to the battery and it works fine. i switched the ecu cuz i thought thats wat it cud be but it didnt have any effect at all. my mechanic looked at all the wiring diagrams for the manual transmission 95 mitsubishi eclipse rs,gs,etc. and he says that the colors do not match up is there anything i can do we checked all the fuses and everything and we cant find anything at all can anyone help me plz. ive been trying to get it running for about 6 months now. thanks to all

Definately sounds exactly like a bad ECU. Possible the one you swapped was bad also. That and the ignition fuse are the only two things that I know of that could cause that condition.

The possibility of the ecu being bad twice is highly unlikely. First the power to the coil and to the fuel pump run on the same circuit. The circuit runs through fuse like 4, its a twenty amp fuse, check this fuse. If you find it to be good move to you fuel pump relay and asd relay (drivers side mounted on the firewall near the clutch master) for the fuel pump you need to back probe the black/blue wire you should see 12v, next check the black/red wire from the asd relay and you should also see 12v. There still is a chance that the ecu is bad because it does ground both relays but do what I said above and you should find a fuse blown.

Take Danny's advice and get back to us. Do not go replacing ECU until you know its the ECU.

Yeah definatly sounds like a bad Ecu I'm having the same exact problem. Just make sure it's the ECU, don't just replace it without pin-pointing the problem.
