Just got an RS today, wondering why the person that put this 3 inch exhaust did NOT install a o2 sensor?

I need to install one Asap because the car seems to studder every once in awhile and is running extremely rich, equaling bad gas:(

I don't have a shit load of money but what do I need to tell the shop to do to get rid of my codes and get better gas? Should I just get an OEM replacement?

Yes, go oem. The thrown code for the o2 should be removed after you put a new one in. Take up to advance autoparts or autozone have them scan it for you, and they'll remove it.

Just got mine for ~$40 shipped

O2 sensor is easy to replace. Wont need a shop for that, just need to peel up some carpet from under the driver seat then there will be a rubber seal, just remove it, put the new one there, plug the electrical side in, and screw in the O2 sensor to the exhaust.

Without the front o2 sensor, it wouldn't ever go into closed loop. The rear isn't a major problem if you're really worried about it.

I'll have to check it again tomorrow which one, I just got the car and there is a LOT of work to do.

Probably both though haha. Yeah I don't think it goes into closed loop because it runs extremely rich all of the time.

That could definitely explain the studdering. If you are missing the front 02 sensor the car will run extremely rich, a safe mode of sorts. The rear 02 is just a means to monitor the catalytic converter and is not as important as the front.

If you just picked up the car you probably want to get a new set of plugs and wires as well. I'd bet that will also improve the way the car idles and runs.

Well I am an idiot. I was told the car did not have o2 sensors but it has both. The plugs were changed about a year ago, I do have proof of that so I know it was done.

Is there any other reasons the car would be running so rich? If not I will go ahead and just change out the o2.

Could be a bad coolant temp sensor, but you really need to read the codes. If you don't have access to a scanner, go to Autozone and have the car scanned so you can see exactly what codes you are throwing.
