Hello all. Long term member... first time posting i think.
Poking around in my engine bay i noticed a loose wire connector. it's under the air intake and the egr valve. it's very short, or has very little play to reach anything at all. Here's some pics to better see what i am talking about.

Oil Pressure Sending Unit maybe? I'm pretty sure my plug is green though. It's either that or the speed sensor on the back of the tranny.

if its that second one cus i know its not for the oil pressure sending unit... where on the back of the tranny might it go? would the connection on the back of the tranny be longer to meet up with this one?

It's near the rear motor mount bracket. You should be able to see the sensor clearly. There isn't another cable down there that will meet with the plug in question. It should plug right into the sensor.

the only plug down that direction that has a red locking tab is the VSS sensor plug. the OPSU plug has a bright green shroud connector.
is the plug rectangular or circular?

i'l take a closer look of it tomorrow to make sure if its rectangle or circle. what would be the symptoms letting me know one or the other is unplugged? Right now it starts up and shifts all the gears just fine. the first two gears are a little sticky but not bad (mainly first gear is sticky but only in higher rpms).

Mikey, more than likely you nailed it. The OPS doesnt have that style connector IIRC.

97+ many had a black connector with red locking tab. my 96 and both 97's have the black connector. it could be either

Ok no new pics of it yet as i worked all day and don't feel like tearing into my car as of yet. so a pic delay of one extra day will have to do... but tomorrow is the weekend so :) plenty of time.
ok so i know its not the tranny sensor because the tranny is working up to 128 (that's as far as i tested him).
i'm thinking it might be the oil thingy sensor as i said it wasn't yesterday. my car drives normal but it idles rough. the reason i said its not the oil sensor thingy is because i took that out to install an oil pressure gauge. and my gauge reads normal. but i think i accidentally broke the plastic sensor while taking it out because that thing was a bitch.
could it be something with my idle somewhere?

If you MPH gauge is working as you are driving then the only sensor the plug is for is the OPSU. That's what it is bro.

K... now i know it's the opsu... is there any harm in leaving it unplugged?
Also... i was wondering... can i remove this piece of hard plastic that's under my hood near the drivers side wheel? i'm guessing it's some kind of shield or something. Just seems to be more weight to me. What do you guys think?

As far as I know the only thing the OPSU does is send a signal to your dummy light in the dash, I don't think it actually sends any needed info to the computer, I had the wire break on my last eclipse and never fixed it.
Why would you want to remove the splash shields? I am trying to find the pieces to get mine all back together. It will help keep dirt and stuff out of your engine bay.

i was just wondering because to me it doesn't seem like it does much of anything and i could be wrong but it doesn't appear the other side of my car has it on so i thought to ask. Given i don't know how much dirtier it would be with it removed. whats your engine bay look like?

I'd keep the splash guard, granted it wont hurt you to much if you remove it, its plastic so barely weighs anything. For something that weighs less than a pound, IMO its best to have it in place to protect your CAI/SRI from water and other debris(sp?).

Ok... deciding to keep the scuff plate or whatever hard plastic piece in...
Now i have a new dilemma. Knowing i need to get a new fpr i opted to save a few bucks and get the adjustable aeromotive afpr... But i should have searched first before ordering i guess. i found a thread where most people who get the aeromotive afpr end up getting the 13109... however i ended up getting the 13101.

How much more difficult will this be to hook up? Or should i send it back and get the 13109? i am an extreme #### when it comes to the fuel system, as this is my first venture into it all together. My fpr is in the rear by my fuel pump as i am told (haven't looked yet) But from searching only the early models had the fpr on the fuel rail and they switched 97-99 to be at the fuel pump. Or should i keep the 13101 and make it work? What all will i need to make it work? Apparently AN fittings... i am guessing at least one -10AN. Could someone please help so i'm not waiting around on parts and fittings. i would prefer the less downtime on my car the better. Thank you.
