13043, safe to drive?
Posted by vegasdsmr, Jan-27-02 07:48 AM
my engine knocks/taps/clicks loud at idle, and gets quicker as the rpms raise.

would a compression test create this problem???
im takin off teh vavle cover to see if i have any play in the lifters.

lemme know if u think its safe to drive daily until its fixed.

I drove for 3 weeks with a broken lifter on one of the exhaust valves. The only signs of problems was the idle sounded a little different but once I hit 4000 rpms it started backfiring out of the intake.

I think it might be a main bearing or something of that sort. Might even be a tensioner. I had a crushed bearing and it cost skrill to get fixed. Yeah I drove my car since august til december just dont race alot

timing belt slipped tooth, or dumbass didn't do the right sequence w/ the crankshaft before putting the belt on.(back 3 notches, forward to a half notch something like this) That would make piston to valve noises.
