130310, Oil on back side of bearings? Posted by 97AllMtr, Apr-05-10 03:59 AM
So today I pulled the rods out of one of my spare shortblocks and while I was taking them out, I took the bearings off of the rods and there was oil in between the rods and the bearing where there shouldn't be any. Is this normal? The block was in spec and the bearings were installed properly and there was NO oil on them before installation. The bearing surface that mated to the rods was 100% clean. And now oil is there. Any ideas?

I was thinking that over time oil would end up behind them, so why when you're putting them in is it so important that they are completely free of oil or lube if oil eventually ends up in there?
