130223, need help tracking down no spark problem
Posted by rshissler, Mar-29-10 01:41 PM
K so i just recently pulled my motor, rebuilt the top end, redid the timing, and added Crane cams. Dropped the motor in and now i have no power getting to my coilpack but i am getting fuel. I used a multimeter and tested all the wires to the coil and none have power. From my searchin i found out the middle wire should have 12+ consent power. Next i test the ASD relay. the Red/Black Black/White wire has power to it. Therefore i would assume the ECU is not the problem, but could be wrong. Then i swapped the ASD to the Fuel pump relay and the fuel pump turned on so the relays good. Now im lost on what to check next. I've check all the plugs on the motor and everythings plugged in. Any help on what to check next?

Edit: Just pulled a code for the Camshaft angle sensor malfunction bank 1. So i took it off and cleaned it good. But that still does explain why i have no power to the coil.

Coilpack wont fire unless the motor sees a good crank/cam signal.

Still have the EGR? Check that area of the harness. Could have been pre-existing and you knocked it loose during removal.

Swap out the camshaft sensor with a known good one.

no EGR been removed since i got the car around a year ago. Guess i'll have to buy a new sensor tonight. Another thing is i just tested to see if i get power to the coil when i first turn the key on and i dont and no power while crankin either.
