I apologize. I searched and checked CAPS and could not find an answer. Is there supposed to be a gasket for the EGR tube connection to the intake manifold? There is not one listed in CAPS, WinCAPS lists only one required (and diagram shows the gasket placed between EGR tube and EGR Valve) and my upper gasket kit from Parts Dinosaur only has one gasket in the kit.

However, the car does have a fitting gasket on the EGR tube to intake manifold??

What are the advantages of driving a car without an EGR? I've searched through the forums a lot and it only seems like the only benefit is not getting your intake manifold dirty because of the recycled exhaust air. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thats about the main benefit.

Also keeps the engine bay a tad cooler IMO. But if you live in an emissions state, you will have to put it back on each time you go to get inspected.

I never remember when the EGR is activated, but I would mention that, even though it tends to dirty up the inside of the intake manifold, when the ECU activates this system, the heated exhaust effectively leans out the intake charge, which can contribute to improved fuel economy during cruising.

Then again, I usually got upwards of 35mpg on the highway fully built and un-tuned without one, but it's something to think about if you do a lot of driving. Can't say I've ever heard of anyone experiencing problems because the EGR had fouled the intake.

Made a thread on this a ways back and also did it myself. Passed NY State inspection with this mod a few months ago. Worked like a charm!

The other major advantage is when you're running a turbo you don't have to worry about the intake temps suddenly spiking causing unwanted detonation.

I blocked the EGR because the last time I rebuilt my head it took several hours to clean out the carbon buildup.
