129660, EGR Resistor Mod Revisited

Hi all,

A while back we had a thread going about EGR blockoff plates and a resistor mod that I introduced as a way to beat the system. The full post can be found here:

I have some news. My inspection finally ran up this past month, so I reset the ECU by unplugging the positive battery cable, and I plugged in the resistor again. I put about 50 miles on the car over the course of a few heat cycles, and the CEL had still not come back on. Went to get my inspection done (NY State) and it passed!!

Good information. I may have to do this someday.

Yea, I was definitely pretty happy. I wanted to make sure I didnt just drop the $35 for the inspection only for it to fail, so before I actually went ahead and had it done, I had one of the guys use their NYS issued scanner to make sure the car was in fact "emissions ready"

He plugged it it, saw no CEL's, and saw that it was ready to go. Pulled it into the inspection station, and passed.
