129603, Why can't I find a crank angle sensor? Posted by WhiteTalon96, Feb-11-10 03:43 PM
Hey guys, I can't find a crank angle sensor anywhere for my car. It's a 1996 eagle talon, non turbo. The sensor that is on the car has 3 round pins in it, and every single one I can find in my town (Even ones that I ordered) all have three rectangular style pins. They don't fit in the connector on the harness obviously so I don't really know what to do! Please help meee! Thanks Scott

IIRC, you need to get the new style connector and solder it in.

maybe your car had a 97-99 engine/harness swap?

Most places have updated to the flat pins and you either need to go to mitsu or get the updated pigtail.

The people at advanced auto know nothing. I know you guys already know this, but after an hour of convincing my dad the only way we could get a sensor that would fit that plug was the dealer. That is true, but they said that there was no pigtail for it. Then when I look it up on Autozones website, they have several available. Boom. Roasted

Yeah that sounds typical.
I recall buying a speed sensor a while back and Autozone sold the new pigtail with the sensor IIRC. For some reason i can remember tossing ti thinking it was odd that it came with the sensor VS selling it separately.

A lot of the OE style aftermarket coils are the same way now. If you buy the coil they're all flat pin connectors and most of them come with the pigtail to splice in. Personally I prefer the round pin units, I have yet to have one die on me
