129055, ARP Head Stud question
Posted by Tuxdreamerx, Dec-16-09 08:54 PM
Ok, so I searched like crazy and still have some unanswered questions about these ARP head studs.

1st thing I got these with the car and they only had 1 nut, no other washers or nuts included. Ok no big deal but im a little confused on what im supposed to have. I see people have said you need 20 nuts and 24 washers but how does that work when there are only 10 studs. I am unclear of how you are supposed to use all 20 nuts and 24 washers.

2nd thing is do I need 12 pt or 6 pt nuts?

I will be ordering these from ARP once I know what I need for sure.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Really? Common sense man. 10 studs means 10 washers and 10 nuts.

It does not matter if you run 6 or 12 point nuts.

The easiest way to do get what you need is call ARP and tell them you have the DOHC Neon head stud kit and need the washers and nuts that come in that kit.

Sorry about that. I was reading this wrong http://www.2gnt.com/www/files/arpstuds.htm it said I needed 20 nuts and 24 washers and I was like what the hell do I need 2 nuts and washers for each headstud for. Ok nevermind I understand now. This can be deleted for all it matters it was completely pointless.

yea, dave's right. call ARP, tell them you have PN 141-4202 or something rather (the DOHC neon/eclipse studs). tell them you just want the matching washers/nuts, they're 12pt studs (1/2" head iirc). shouldn't be more than $30 shipped. don't forget to tell them to throw in an ARP lube packet.

Because that page is discussing head studs *and* bottom end studs.
